Responsibilities
The Vice President will be a key member of the executive team, driving Gazettes' publishing strategy with a focus on revenue growth, innovation and new product development. He/she will report to the President.

The Vice President is responsible for:

Attending and presenting at Gazettes Board meetings, and assisting the President in effectively supporting strong relationships with Board Members;
Creating an agile strategic 1-year and 3-year plan in partnership with the Managing Director and President, presenting it to the Board of Directors, and working to operationalize and implement it;
Leading the annual planning process including development of objectives and goals, overseeing the cascade into teams, and designing and implementing mechanisms for regular performance assessment;
Co-managing the functional units with the Managing Director to guide and oversee execution of day-to-day and intermediate priorities;
Supporting the Managing Director in facilitating strategic engagement of the Board of Directors to meet short and long term organizational objectives;
Acting as a thought partner, sounding board, and advisor to senior managers and directors, thereby providing a strong, consistent leadership presence within the organization;
Evaluating team structures and planning for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities of individuals;
Working with the President and Managing Director on annual budgeting processes;
Supporting business in new product and service initiatives, designing and supporting processes to take new innovations forward from seed stage to market;
Maintaining strong relationships with publishing systems and services vendors, performing quality and cost audits, optimizing performance, negotiating contracts and managing RFPs as needed;
Ensuring consistent communication to the President on the status of the organization’s overall performance and emerging operational and programmatic opportunities;
Driving operational excellence across the organization, implementing and managing systems, processes, and policies that improve capacity, transparency, effectiveness, communication, and ease across the organization as it grows in size and complexity;
Working across the organization to strengthen and streamline operations through adaptation, shared learning, and continuous improvement;
Establishing and leading a performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against organizational metrics, leveraging data to evaluate and improve performance;
Skillfully managing team members in a matrixed organization, holding teams and individuals accountable, and delegating effectively.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate their suitability for the position apart from having the following:

A Masters degree in a science subject, MBA or PhD preferred;
Years of leadership experience in an innovative growth or change environment that operates efficiently with a lean budget and team;
Years of experience in leading and managing teams, ideally in a geographically dispersed context, with a high standard of excellence and accountability;
Years of experience in building and managing partnerships to deliver successful outcomes for the organization;
Communication, organizational and time management skills, and the flexibility to adapt quickly to change;
Strategic thinking skills around operationalization and execution in complex and ambiguous environments;
Commitment and passion for Gazettes’ mission, purpose and values, and an ability to translate this passion into culture.
